Group Spiritual direction

Group spiritual direction is a process in which people gather together on a regular basis to assist one another in an ongoing awareness of God in all of life. They are seeking support for their responsiveness to God and they agree to support others in that same responsiveness. These conditions are essential to the life of the group. Members must agree to

  • Make a commitment to support one another in the desire to experience God more fully
  • Be committed to praying for one another
  • Be consistent in some regular, personal spiritual practice (such as daily prayer, meditation, worship, etc.)
  • Be considerate about time
  • Talk about how they experience God—not their religious beliefsgroup SD
  • Listen respectfully to one another
  •  Hold in reverence and confidence what is said in group

Living tree has spiritual direction groups for both clergy and lay members.  The clergy groups are open only to clergy but from any denomination.  It is a sacred circle of trust where clergy can find guidance from fellow colleagues for the issues that are particular to a call to ministry.  Lay spiritual direction groups focus on similar issues but from a lay perspective.
